Careerism involves focusing resources on and drawing meaning from one’s line of work.

Effective altruism is a social and intellectual movement dedicated to making sure that charity does the greatest amount of good possible. Examples of such activities include cause comparisons, charity efficacy evaluations, political advocacy, and more. 

The party line is the official position a political party has taken on a particular issue. Adhering to the party line means that politicians who are members of that party endorse the relevant position publicly and vote in accordance with it. Typically, there are consequences of varying severity for politicians who deviate from the party line.

Technopessimism is a worldview that sees future milestone technological achievements as likely to be harmful in aggregate. Fictional works like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Arcane, and Black Mirror have technopessimist themes, and a number of real-world movements (certain environmentalist groups advocating degrowth, some AI safetyists who are worried about mass unemployment) subscribe to technopessimism.

In 1985, Quebec was a province within the confederation of Canada. If Quebec had gained sovereignty, it would have become an independent country. The question of sovereignty defined the politics of Quebec from the 1970s until the early 2000s. Two referendums on sovereignty were held, one in 1980 and one in 1995, but both were narrowly defeated.

In the status quo, most firms are owned by founders and/or private investors. Market socialism is a system in which firms are instead entirely owned by their employees, each of whom holds an equity stake in the business.

Examples include the James Bay Treaty in Northern Ontario and the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement in Newfoundland and Labrador. 

Confessional art is a form of contemporary art that focuses on an intentional revelation of the private self. It encourages an intimate analysis of the artists, artist's subject or spectators' confidential experiences and emotions.
